Ingredients

  • 1 bag of frozen waffle fries or 2 medium Russet potatoes for homemade
  • Olive oil spray or cooking spray

Seasoning options:

  • Sea salt
  • Garlic powder
  • Paprika
  • Black pepper
  • Parmesan cheese optional

Instructions

Prepare the Air Fryer:

  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil to prevent the fries from sticking.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 2-3 minutes.

Prepare the Waffle Fries:

  • If using frozen waffle fries, simply remove them from the package.
  • For homemade fries, wash and peel 2 medium Russet potatoes. Slice them using a waffle fry cutter, then soak in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Dry thoroughly with a paper towel.

Air Fry the Waffle Fries:

  • Place the frozen or homemade fries in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook at 400°F (200°C):
  • Frozen fries: 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Homemade fries: 12-15 minutes, shaking halfway for even cooking.

Season:

  • Once the fries are golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and immediately season with your choice of sea salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, or parmesan cheese.

Serve:

  • Serve the waffle fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces such as ketchup, aioli, spicy mayo, or barbecue sauce.

Notes

  • For Extra Crispiness: Make sure to pat the homemade fries dry after soaking in water. The less moisture, the crispier your fries will be.
  • Dipping Sauce Ideas: Try garlic aioli, spicy sriracha mayo, or ranch for extra flavor.
  • Homemade Fries Tip: Russet potatoes are ideal for this recipe, as they provide the perfect texture. If you want a different flavor, try sweet potatoes!
  • Seasoning Variations: Get creative with your seasonings! Try a smoky paprika blend or a spicy Cajun seasoning mix for a different twist.
