Ingredients

  • 4 ounces dark chocolate high-quality, semi-sweet
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Butter or cooking spray for greasing ramekins

Instructions

Prepare the Batter:

  • Melt the dark chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a double boiler or in the microwave. Stir until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.

Mix the Eggs and Sugar:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until well combined and frothy. Add the melted chocolate mixture and stir until smooth.

Add the Flour:

  • Gently fold in the flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.

Prepare the Ramekins:

  • Grease two ramekins or mini cake pans with butter or cooking spray. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

Preheat and Cook:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the ramekins in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch each other. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft and gooey.

Cool and Serve:

  • Carefully remove the ramekins from the air fryer and let them cool for 2-3 minutes. Flip the cakes onto plates and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Timing: The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of your ramekins and your air fryer model. Start checking around 8 minutes for a perfectly gooey center.
  • Flavor Variations: Add a teaspoon of espresso powder or orange zest to the batter for a unique twist.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the batter ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours. Allow it to come to room temperature before baking.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or fresh berries for an extra indulgent treat.
