Ingredients

For the Fish:

  • 4 white fish fillets tilapia, cod, or halibut
  • 2 tbsp blackening seasoning store-bought or homemade: paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, thyme, and oregano
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Tacos:

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • Lime wedges for serving

For the Lime-Cilantro Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Fish:

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
  • Rub olive oil over each fillet and coat generously with blackening seasoning.

Cook in the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place the fish fillets in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until the fish is cooked through and flaky.

Warm the Tortillas:

  • While the fish cooks, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.

Make the Lime-Cilantro Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, lime juice, cilantro, salt, and pepper.

Assemble the Tacos:

  • Flake the cooked fish into bite-sized pieces.
  • Place fish on the warmed tortillas.
  • Top with shredded cabbage, avocado slices, diced tomatoes, and cilantro.
  • Drizzle with lime-cilantro sauce.

Serve:

  • Garnish with lime wedges and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the cayenne pepper in the blackening seasoning.
  • For a dairy-free sauce, use a dairy-free yogurt alternative or a splash of coconut milk.
  • Add extra toppings like pickled onions, jalapeños, or a sprinkle of queso fresco for variety.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently to maintain texture.
