Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized apples Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji are ideal
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg optional
  • 2 tablespoons butter or coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional
  • 2 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Core the apples, being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom. Use a sharp knife or an apple corer to remove the core, creating a well for the filling.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Fill each apple with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. If desired, add raisins, nuts, or dried cranberries to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Brush the outside of each apple with melted butter or coconut oil.
  • Place the apples in the air fryer basket or on a baking dish suitable for your air fryer. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, flipping the apples halfway through the cooking time, until the apples are tender and the filling is gooey.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Apple Varieties: Choose firm apples like Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji for the best results. These apples hold their shape and caramelize well in the air fryer.
  • Toppings: Customize your baked apples with different toppings like whipped cream, yogurt, or a drizzle of caramel sauce for an indulgent treat.
  • Serving Suggestions: Air fryer baked apples are perfect as a dessert on their own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a comforting fall treat.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 5-7 minutes to regain the warm, tender texture.
This air fryer baked apple recipe is quick, easy, and customizable, making it the perfect healthy fall dessert for any occasion. Enjoy the sweet, spiced aroma and comforting flavors of this delightful treat!
