Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 package of puff pastry or crescent roll dough
  • 1 tbsp sugar for dusting
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp water for egg wash
  • Powdered sugar optional, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Apple Filling:

  • Peel, core, and dice the apples into small cubes. In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the apples and sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the apples soften and the spices meld. Set aside to cool slightly.

Prepare the Dough:

  • Roll out the puff pastry or crescent roll dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut into small squares or circles, depending on the shape you prefer.

Assemble the Bombs:

  • Spoon a small amount of the cooled apple filling into the center of each dough square. Carefully fold the dough over to form a pocket or half-moon shape. Use a fork to crimp and seal the edges tightly.

Prepare for Air Frying:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Mix the egg and water to create an egg wash, then brush it onto the top of each pie bomb. Sprinkle with sugar for extra sweetness.

Cook the Apple Pie Bombs:

  • Place the bombs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the dough is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

Serve:

  • Allow the bombs to cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
