Ingredients

  • 1 –1.5 lbs white fish fillets cod, tilapia, or halibut
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil spray
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour

Instructions

Prepare the Fish:

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Set Up the Dredging Station:

  • Place the flour in one shallow bowl.
  • Beat the eggs in another bowl.
  • In the third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with a drizzle of vegetable oil for extra crispiness.

Coat the Fish:

  • Dip each fish fillet in flour, ensuring an even coat.
  • Submerge the fillet in the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off.
  • Press the fish into the breadcrumb mixture, coating it thoroughly on all sides.

Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

Air Fry the Fish:

  • Arrange the coated fillets in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
  • Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway, until the coating is golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Serve:

  • Serve immediately with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, or your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • For gluten-free: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
  • To enhance flavor: Add a pinch of lemon zest or Cajun seasoning to the breadcrumbs.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
  • Serve ideas: Pair with a fresh salad, steamed vegetables, or sweet potato fries for a complete meal.
